Frequently Asked Questions
What metadata can this tool read?
The tool reads EXIF (camera settings, date taken, lens info), GPS coordinates, IPTC (title, keywords, copyright), and XMP data. It also shows basic image properties like dimensions, color space, and resolution.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
Yes — the file is sent to the backend for processing by ImageMagick's 'identify' tool. It is deleted from the server immediately after the metadata is extracted. No data is stored permanently.
Why should I remove metadata before sharing photos?
Photos taken on smartphones often embed GPS coordinates that reveal your exact location. Removing metadata protects your privacy before uploading to social media or sharing publicly.
Does removing metadata affect image quality?
No. Metadata is stored separately from pixel data. Stripping it only removes the embedded information; image dimensions, colors, and visual quality are fully preserved.
